All summer long, Canadian country artist Ben Chase has provided fans with songs that make the season shine. He kicked things off in June with “Somebody’s Summer,” which debuted at #1 on Apple Music Canada’s Country playlist. Things then got a little hotter with the release of “Bad Day To Be A Beer” in July, a beer-soaked anthem about letting loose and having a good time. With summer now coming to an end, listeners will be trading in these sizzling singles for cozy fall jams, but not before Ben closes things out in style with “Chesney on the Lake.”
Everyone has a summer that stands out to them, one that they fondly look back on and treasure. No matter what you were doing or who you were with, that memory will live on, as we hear on “Chesney on the Lake.” Taking it back to a time when he was younger, Ben relives a summer of love on this single, getting lost in both the beauty and the heartbreak. He sings, “We were rocking the Chesney on the lake / We were fallin’ in love with the speakers cranked,” all the while wishing that he had told this girl how he felt about her. Even though it didn’t work out, he know that they will always have this memory, revealing, “I wonder where she is today / And if she ever thinks / About Chesney on the lake.” Overall, it plays out like a “one that got away” country anthem, sure to bring some comfort and solidarity to anyone who has gone through a similar experience.
About “Chesney on the Lake,” Ben shares,
“Kenny Chesney is one of my biggest inspirations in music – some of my best memories from past summers are tied to Chesney songs. I couldn’t think of a more perfect song to end the summer season.”
You can listen to “Chesney on the Lake” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
