Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

Teddy Swims, “Bad Dreams” – Teddy Swims released a fiery new single this week entitled “Bad Dreams.” “Bad Dreams” builds on the momentum of his global  hit “Lose Control,” which he performed earlier this week on the MTV VMA Extended Play stage, along with his current charting single “The Door” and a rendition of Rihanna’s “Stay.” He was nominated for four awards at the show, including Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Best Alternative, and Push Performance of the Year.

——

Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler, “black & white” – A heartfelt love song exploring emotional connection and healing, in “black & white,” Zucker and Cutler try to find the comfort and security found in a relationship, even when life feels stark and difficult. In the first verse, Cutler opens up about feeling unwell and struggling to feel like herself, saying that only the person she loves comes close to providing such comfort (“Haven’t been doin’ well / Nothin’ makes me feel like myself / Nothin’ comes as close as you do”). The pre-chorus is then a reminder of how love has the power to transform, opening up this world of emotions for both Zucker and Cutler.

The Lumineers, “Sleep on the Floor (Live from Wrigley Field)” The Lumineers are bringing the ambiance of their live concerts right to you with their new upcoming album Live from Wrigley Field. The new live single “Sleep on the Floor” is one of the first tastes to the live album set to be released on Sept. 27th. The folk-rock inspired song is only elevated by the electrifying energy of the crowd for the listener. The live version of “Sleep on the Floor” is a completely new experience as it captures a shared moment created by The Lumineers and their fans resulting in deepening the atmosphere that music can already create within a song.

– Ashley Cardenas

——

Thomas Day, “Sentimental” The EP opens with “Sentimental,” an innocent pop ballad that contains feel-good melodies and adoring lyrics that capture the essence of infatuation. Over the light instrumentation, Thomas sings, “I can’t love you a little / I need more than just a taste / Just tell me that you want me to stay / God, I’m so sentimental / I cry when I look at your face / You’re everything I want in one place.”
