Powerwolf’s North American tour took over the iconic Masquerade Heaven stage on September 8th, marking the legendary power metal group’s first time to ever perform in the Atlanta, Georgia. Canadian based Unleash the Archers joined them for an unbelievable night of symphonic power metal.
Unleash the Archers took the stage to kick off an unforgettable show, blending epic power metal with a powerful stage presence that enraptured the room with an energy that kept the crowd engaged from start to finish. Brittany Slayes’ incredible vocal range soared over the intricate guitar riffs and pounding drums, creating a sound that was both powerful and melodic. The band’s stage presence was intense and energetic, with each member feeding off the energy of the audience, making for an immersive experience that left every one begging for more. Whether it was headbanging through their faster tracks or getting swept away in their more melodic anthems, the set was a perfect mix of intensity and musical ambiance. The pinnacle of the performance was for the final song, when the Canadian power metal group performed their amazing cover of the pirate shanty favorite, “Northwest Passage”. The entire sold out venue joined in to belt out the entire song with 100s of lights in the air swaying back and forth.
Powerwolf hit the stage next with a mystical presence as the lights dimmed and fog filled the stage with the medieval clad wolves leading into “Bless ‘em With the Blade”, setting the tone for their epic performance. Powerwolf’s signature blend of powerful riffs, dramatic theatrics mixed with comedic bits, and soaring vocals brought the crowd to life. At one point lead singer Attila Dorn and keyboardist Falk Maria Schlegel danced gracefully across the stage, ball room style for the intro to “Dancing with the Dead”, prompting the crowd to start swaying and to light up the room with the lights from their phones. Every bit of their stage presence was captivating, with larger-than-life sets and an immersive gothic atmosphere that perfectly complemented their epic symphonic metal sound. Fan favorites such as “Demons Are a Girl’s Best Friend” and “We Drink Your Blood” had the entire audience chanting along, with neither the power metal ensemble’s nor the crowds energy wavering throughout the performance. A special shoutout goes to the lighting designer for creating a barrage of perfectly timed lighting effects and hazy fog filling the stage made the night feel like a dark, mystical journey. It was a performance that will have fans clamoring for more, long after the final note.
Powerwolf’s North American tour is a Power Metal masterpiece, delivering an epic stage show and mind-blowing performances mixed with the theatrics that the genre is known for. As a Powerwolf show is a rarity in North America, this is a show that you don’t want to miss this time around.
