Kehlani releases “When He’s Not There” days before ‘While We Wait 2’ mixtape

Date:

Two-time Grammy-nominated artist Kehlani released her latest single featuring Lucky Daye, “When He’s Not There,” on Aug. 26. The single comes in advance of the Aug. 28 release of her highly-anticipated mixtape, While We Wait 2. Since 2014, Kehlani’s success as an artist includes more than 20 Gold and Platinum RIAA certifications and over nine billion streams. 2024 is sure to be a landmark year for the songstress, already presenting listeners with the release of her fourth studio album, CRASH, featuring tracks that earned placement on Rolling Stone’s Best Songs of 2024 So Far

In “When He’s Not There,” Kehlani explores her feelings around being the other woman for a woman in a relationship. She questions her love interest’s romantic situation, featuring longing lyrics including “Girl, does he know you’re yearning, yearning for me?” and “Does he sleep on your side of the bed while our memories play in your head?” Ultimately, she wants to know what happens in her lover’s head “when he’s not there.”

Kehlani is set to begin her CRASH world tour beginning Sept. 4 in Minneapolis, Minn. The 31-city American leg of the tour will feature stops at renowned venues including Chicago’s Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, and San Francisco’s Chase Center. Tickets can be purchased on Kehlani’s website
