Melodic Music Monday: August 19

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

Hozier, “July” – Featuring steady percussion and light vocals, “July” shares about longing for the freedom that comes with summer. Beginning with a sense of isolation, Hozier compares his feeling of loneliness to the cold, dark winter climate, looking forward to the warmth and brightness of the summer to shine once again.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile” – Two of the best songwriters and vocalists of a generation, Gaga  a 13 time GRAMMY-winner and Mars is a 15 time GRAMMY-winner, have combined their styles to create a song in the running for the best love ballad of 2024. Both artists have been celebrated over the years for their artistic vision and groundbreaking music.

Saumit., “21” Saumit. takes us back to a simpler time with “21”. The synthpop single is reminiscent of the electric soundscape that was the 2016 era of music. The song opens with a compelling growing beat that drives the rhythm and draws the listener closer. The smooth use of reverb gives a sense of euphoria as the track continues to grow with the beat of the drums and waves of synth. The instrumental arrangement complements the more intense build up as we near the end of the song in the last minute.

almost monday, “she likes sports” – Like a jingle you’d hear during summer savings season with a pace comparable to the early days of The Strokes and melodies like The Kooks, the whole listening experience is comparable to those summer days that we never want to end. Sprinkling in a bit of that garage rock feel, the trio from San Diego is serving up laid back vibes and funk on a silver platter, probably behind a surf shop.
