Julia Raye refuses to “Give You Up” on new single

Date:

From a young age, Julia Raye knew what she wanted to do with her life. Her desire to perform led her to dance classes, singing classes, and local musical theater productions where she could develop her craft. By the time she was 17, Julia had performed in the New York All State Choir and ACDA All National Choir, preparing her for a dynamic future as a vocalist. At the University of Michigan, she was able to study with George Shirley, a pioneer in the opera world. After many years of learning the ropes, Julia has now incorporated her classical training with her love of pop and R&B music to achieve her own unique sound. It is with this sound that she has released singles like “Like You Used To” and “Expectations,” which flaunt her expressive storytelling skills. To follow up “Expectations,” Julia is dropping “Give You Up,” further immersing us in her universe.

A soaring pop anthem, “Give You Up” flaunts Julia’s determined spirit. Over the catchy hand claps, buoyant rhythms, and electric beats, she tells us about her feelings for someone who she should probably avoid. With sweet yet sassy vocals, she sings, “Say what you want, but baby, I’m a killer” and “Boy, you know I’m nothing like her,” ready to make a move. Does she deserve him? You can find out if this guy would really be “better with me than you could ever be with her” below.

Telling us more about “Give You Up,” Julia explains,

“It’s a song about that one guy who you know is bad for you but you can’t help falling for. You can really hear the range of emotions play out in real time. It’s confident, sassy, fun, and honest.”

You can listen to “Give You Up” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
