The Vaniers Channel Their Love of Footy Anthems on Upbeat Rock Single “Painted Town”

Date:

Toronto rock trio The Vaniers are diving into their love of early 2000’s post-Britpop, acid funk, and electronica on new single, “Painted Town.”

Inspired by the FIFA footy anthems they grew up listening to, the song is built around a pulsating piano line performed on a Hammond Cadet organ that bassist/vocalist Diego Paz had sitting in his basement.

Painted Town” is a pump up song – it’s meant to get you stoked and ready for whatever’s around the corner. At the same time, there’s a strong sense of nostalgia here for us, going back to music from our childhood that unknowingly would impact us as musicians much later on in life.  You could say that this song was written for our ten year old selves, sitting in front of the TV with the volume way up. – guitarist Alex Iacobellis

Known for delivering scorching live performances and dazzling crowds, The Vaniers have become a staple in the Toronto music scene, celebrated for their high-octane shows and catchy tunes. The breakthrough for the band came in 2019, marked by the release of five singles and a tour across the Toronto circuit. Their debut EP, Who Are You To Say? hit the scene on March 19th, 2020. In 2021, The Vaniers collaborated with producer Nixon Boyd of Hollerado, recording their full-length LP titled All Together Now!, released on June 3rd, 2022. The album’s release was met with acclaim and celebrated with successive sold-out shows at Horseshoe Tavern the next night and Lee’s Palace the following month.

In 2023, The Vaniers started working towards their sophomore LP, to which they have released three singles from so far: “Faces,” “Charlie,” and “This Dog.” The full album is slated for a late 2024 release.
