OAKLND and Lauren Laudermilk shared their most recent collaboration, “hate that we dated”, with the world on July 2. Written between West Lothian, London, and Tennessee, the piece tells the story of the heartbreak experienced at the end of a relationship which spirals into emotional turmoil.
“hate that we dated” has been in the making for two years, and is finally available to fans who have long awaited this single. About the production process, OAKLND said via Instagram:
“Wrote this song like 2 years ago and got so stuck on the 2nd verse it never came out. So pumped to have finished it with @laurenlaudermilk and be putting it together.”
This soaring alt-pop track combines pieces of The 1975-esque indie pop with well-crafted lyrics and ascending synths to create a hazy alternative pop sound. OAKLND and Laudermilk’s voices contribute equally beautifully to the track, as they recount their feelings at the end of the relationship.
