Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:
Jarki Monno, “Charlie” – London-born artist Jarki Monno is quickly making a name for himself, having recently been featured at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2024. His most recent single “Charlie”, which explores the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with unrequited affection, was released last week. The way this track keeps listeners guessing while building to the finale speaks to Jarki Monno’s songwriting and production talent. The relatable lyrics and mix of vocal styles help get the full range of emotions across. This catchy tune will captivate listeners and leave them wanting more.

SUNBURNT, “Tunnel Vision” – The fifth release from SUNBURNT, “Tunnel Vision”, infuses early oughts of SoCal pop punk with modern lyrics. As a trio, SUNBURNT decided to team up with Kyle Black, known for working with bands like State Champs and Pierce the Veil, to help bring their vision for this song to life. The track opens with a strong guitar (Will Brown) that blends into lead vocalist, Justin Tyler. The guitar and bass (Alex Pombar) harken back to a mid-2000’s rom-com. Nostalgia propels this song forward, but the lyrics keep it grounded in current times with a sarcastic reminder that “everything is just fine” throughout.

DNJBBY, “see u cry” – In her latest single “see you cry”, DNJBBY looks to find escape from pain caused by the end of a relationship. “see you cry” explores heartbreak and unrequited love through irresistible dance beats and vulnerable lyrics. She hopes that listeners who’ve faced challenges such as absence and avoidance in relationships can find validation through this track. “see you cry” incorporates elements similar to artists such as Kim Petras, Tinashe, and PinkPantheress to create a danceable breakup anthem. “see you cry” creates a club-like atmosphere through its rich synth layers and techno rhythms, providing a space for listeners to express themselves through dance.

Billie Eilish “LUNCH” – Billie Eilish released her third full-length album on May 17th, titled HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. “LUNCH” is more upbeat, and is one of the album’s top tracks. Here, Eilish takes on a more playful feel with danceable beats and a catchy melody as she describes a love interest in the lyrics.
