Date:

When you listen to Devon Cole’s music, you are transported to another place. Her candid and clever singer-songwriter skills easily place listeners in her shoes as she sings about getting her life together or ending up in a problematic relationship… Devon’s fans can definitely relate to the drama or the vulnerability, with singles like “Call U After Rehab,” “1-800-GOT-STRESS,” and “Nobody’s Baby” proficiently showing these different sides. On her new single, “I Got You,” Devon gravitates towards a sunnier persona, which her followers are already loving. Teasers for the single have gone viral on social media, racking up millions of views and generating comments that have fans begging for the full song. Living up to the supportive and loving qualities she describes in the track, Devon is happily giving into these demands from her fans by finally releasing the official single.

A light and pleasant pop tune, “I Got You” is like stepping into pure sunshine. Its easy-going vibes are presented through the warm acoustic guitar riff that drives the track along, as well as through the piano, percussion, and electric guitar that round out the production. Meanwhile, Devon offers affectionate vocals that touch on all the ways she shows up for those she cares about. She sings, “If you need a hand, I got two / If you’re in the mood to dance, I got moves / If you need a night in, a night off, a phone call, baby I got you,” reminding whoever is listening that she will not be phased.

Telling us more about “I Got You,” Devon shares,

“‘I Got You’ is a song about being a good friend. It’s a little ironic for me to have written this song because I’ve historically not been the best friend. I tend to hermit, and I’m literally trash at responding to anyone’s texts…even my best friends. So, this song is aspirational. I have amazing friends – they are hilarious, intelligent, and iconic. They deserve the kind of friend described in this song. Writing ‘I Got You’ forced me to confront myself and work towards doing better.”

You can listen to “I Got You” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.

Devon will be hosting a meet-up in LA tonight, May 10. If you need a night out and would like for her to get that bar tab, you can RSVP here. On June 5, Devon will be co-headlining a show at The Axis Club during Live Nation & Canadian Music Week with her labelmate, ROSIE. Grab tickets for that here.
