fanschko - "Hate You"

19-year-old singer-songwriter fanschko from Austria explores the complex emotions of wishing to hate someone she once deeply cared for in her latest single, “Hate You.” Despite accumulating more than 100,000 Spotify streams as of Feb. 7, fanschko’s musical journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic over three years ago when she picked up a guitar and taught herself how to write her music.

Influenced by artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Lorde and Gracie Abrams, fanschko’s debut single “Breathe” received a spike in Spotify streams and monthly listeners. Now the young musical artist is back to make a mark on the indie-pop genre.

In this ethereal yet pained track, “Hate You” serves as a sequel to “Breathe.” fanschko delves into the internal struggles following a breakup, capturing the intricacies of being able to replace positive emotions for negative ones. In the chorus, she expresses, “Things would be easier if I could just hate you,” and once she reaches the bridge of the song, she sings, “I’m running from the lies you spread” in this deeply self-reflecting track that forces listeners to confront and reveal their insecurities and vulnerabilities.

Coming off “Breathe,” fanschko manages to create her voice and distinctive style with “Hate You” which is guaranteed to make listeners want to come running back for more.
