Maria Ellis Releases Relatable New Single “Gone”

Date:

New York-based pop R&B artist Maria Ellis has just released her catchy new single “Gone“. The undeniably relatable track touches on how it feels to still be in love with an ex even though you’re aware of their bad intentions.

The song fades in with padded electronic elements over a soft and slow guitar before we hear some background vocals from Ellis. A bubbly electronic drop serves as a transition to bring Ellis’s vocals front and center for the first verse. Her smooth vocal delivery adds a sultry vibe to the lyrics as the music starts to build.

The pre-chorus sees Ellis grappling with her feelings for her former lover as she sings “better hurry up and kiss me quick / before I come to my senses”. The beat drops and shows us into the chorus, a breakdown of distorted vocal elements and heavy bass drops with Ellis singing “when you’re gone” layered into the mix.

We head right into the second verse with elements from the breakdown staying consistent. Ellis’s vocals get stronger as she sings “I don’t need you but I know I want you”. Her vocal talent shines in this verse as her voice cascades over each and every word.

The second chorus builds even more intensely than the first and it shows us to the end of the song. Incorporating heavier drops and more distorted electronic elements over Ellis’s vocals, the end of this song will have listeners wanting to get up and dance.

While the verses of “Gone” let Ellis’s vocal talent and emotion take center stage, the heavy chorus showcases the chaos and desperation that can come with being torn between longing for your ex-partner and still knowing they’re no good for you. This fun and upbeat track will be on repeat not only for listeners who relate to this sentiment, but also for those who just want to sing and dance along.
