Swedish duo Olivia Virgolin and Marcus Petendi, AKA Happy For Real are ringing in the new year with a new unique, edgy sound. The band began releasing music in 2022, but wants their incoming era to be bigger and bolder than before. Influenced by the 90’s music culture, Happy For Real strives to marry pop & rock in their new project. Their music is upbeat, gritty, and will surely get you moving. Kicking off their upcoming EP Desperate Art is the band’s latest single, “News.”

“News” has a little bit of everything to it. The guitars bring a grunge vibe to the table, yet we’re also introduced to some bright synths and keys that float above them. Virgolin and Petendi perform all the instruments you hear in the track- talk about a power couple. “News” is bold, assertive, and unapologetically original. The two vocalists perform some satisfyingly crunchy harmonies to complement the edge of the rest of the instrumentation. Whether you like the guitars on early albums by The Strokes, or you’d rather dive in to synth-pop with The Japanese House, this song has something that you’ll fall in love with.
