Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:
Modern Alibi – “Boy You Better” Modern Alibi’s latest track, “Boy You Better”, is a journey into the panicked thoughts of someone ensnared by infatuation, leading them into a web of thievery and deceit. The track boasts a darker tone than their previous tracks, achieved through crunchy British-rock inspired guitars and hard-hitting drums. The vocal dynamics intensify the mood, with spitty verses, a powerful melodic chorus, and a surprisingly delicate bridge.
– Laury Verdoux
AURORA – “Your Blood” On “Your Blood,” AURORA speaks to the complexity of the human soul. After a haunting riff in the beginning, AURORA’s blissful yet frail vocals take over and set the mood for the pensive track. She gives us lines like, “Do you hear the echo / Begging you to let go,” “I refuse to die,” and “We are dust,” the otherworldly feel from these words coming in strong. It makes us wonder about human connection and existence, two themes that are familiar in AURORA’s music.
– Christine Sloman
Kat Cunning – “Bedroom Angel” Cunning provides validation of celebration and pleasure in their latest release. They pull you in by the collar for an intimate dance with their lyrical play on the complex influence between religion and the queer experience. The kinky undertones intertwine religious imagery with BDSM play romanticized by the track’s dreamy melody.
– Cass Faulding
Rum Jingle – “Make it Ez” Vibe. Vibe, vibe, vibe. VIBE. I truly could populate this whole review with that particular word surrounded by different punctuation marks and essentially say the same thing. Imma need my thesaurus. “Make It Ez” by Rum Jungle is a cool drink of water on a hot day — but not an ice cold drink. That might be too abrasive and it might ruin the ~vibe~.
