Ever since my primordial encounter with AVIV at her Tetragram Ballroom show opening for pop supergroup Joan, I’ve been patiently waiting on the release of her saccharine, heart-flutter inducing “Running Shoes”. I’m happy to report that the wait is finally over and you can now listen to AVIV’s silken sonic daydream musing on her first love for yourself. Written about finding solace in the heart of another amidst a harsh world, AVIV recounts an unexpected and comforting escape from it all.
Over a decadent backdrop of effervescent notes of piano, pastoral accoustic riffs, and a jaw-dropping vocal that is easy as a sunrise, AVIV enchants us on “Running Shoes”. Paired with a music video directed by the acclaimed director Ryan Faist, otherwise known as ‘boy wonder’, the story of “Running Shoes” unfolds over a crimson-colored farm. She galavants amidst a hazy field of lavender, playfully dances around a pen of llamas, and reminisces beside a rushing stream. “Running Shoes” will give you all the feels with imaginative lyrics and breathless backstrokes of sonic bliss.
AVIV is a 17-year-old, Toronto-based artist who pushes the boundaries of bedroom-pop with her deep-cut lyrics and genuine passion for performance. She formerly opened for Imagine Dragons on their last arena tour. “Running Shoes” is her latest release produced by the esteemed producer Robbie Lackritz who has worked among the likes of Feist and Alvvays.
