The Dark Horizon Tour descends upon Huntsville, AL

Date:

The Dark Horizon Tour made its debut at the Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama, on Friday, August 11, 2023. The lineup featured a potent fusion of Metalcore and Nu Metal talent spanning two decades of history, all packed into one electrifying night. Co-headliners Motionless in White and In This Moment, along with supporting acts From Ashes to New and Fit For A King, set the stage for an unforgettable evening of headbanging.

Commencing the evening, From Ashes to New ignited the crowd with a burst of energy, blending heavy riffs and a mix of screams and rap elements that ushered in a new era of Nu Metal. Starting with their hit track “Nightmare” from their latest album “Blackout,” the audience felt the intense vibes as the band delivered a series of powerful songs, reminiscent of Linkin Park with a heavier metal twist. Prior to the show, the members of From Ashes to New had the chance to hang out with local fans at Dave and Busters, a prize won through a contest organized by the local rock station, 95.1. During their set, the band surprised a young fan whose birthday coincided with the show by gifting him the very guitar played on stage by guitarist Lance Dowdle.

Fit For a King followed, maintaining the momentum with their high-octane performance. Opening with “Eyes Roll Back,” they embarked on a relentless succession of impactful songs. During “Vendetta,” the second song of their set, Ryan Kirby called upon crowd surfers to ride the wave of fans in the pit. The pit erupted with fans surfing over the crowd barrier in a frenzy, sustaining the energy throughout the track. The band’s setlist continued, fueling the high-energy crowd engaged in headbanging and moshing within the circle pit. Clearly, From Ashes to New and Fit For a King successfully amped up the audience for the main attraction.

Taking the stage with a grand theatrical display, In This Moment provided a cinematic experience that encompassed ritualistic dancing, fiery bursts illuminating the arena, and occasional props like balls and graffiti descending upon the audience and stage. In This Moment offered both a visual and auditory feast for all attendees.

The grand finale of the evening belonged to Motionless in White, making their inaugural appearance in Huntsville, Alabama. The crowd’s response ensured that this wouldn’t be their only performance in the area. Chris Motionless and the band commenced their set with “Scoring the End of the World,” delivering an unyielding sequence of fan-favorite tracks spanning their two-decade history. The audience waved their arms, headbanged vigorously to the heavy tunes, and sang along with the artists. Halfway through the set, a dynamic performance of “Slaughterhouse” featured a compelling duet between Chris and Ryan Kirby from Fit For a King. The synergy between the band and the audience created a truly enchanting performance, mixing melodic heavy hits with symphonic ballads like “Another Life.”

The Dark Horizon Tour masterfully combines a variety of metal styles, blending established industry acts with newer, hard-hitting talents. It’s a tour that promises an adrenaline-packed evening and is certainly a must-see for anyone seeking an unforgettable musical experience.
