Beat Radio has shared their newest single, “Dissociation Blues,” from their upcoming album, Real Love. It is the 3rd single released to promote the project, preceded by “Family Name” and “Radioactive.” The lo-fi emo/folk group has been making music since 2005, and Real Love is their 1st album featuring both singer-songwriter and guitarist Brian Sendrowitz and the group’s co-founder, multi-instrumentalist and producer Philip Jimenez, following the latter’s departure in 2006.
Throughout the group’s 5 (soon to be 6) album discography, Sendrowitz has excelled at writing songs that “double as life rafts, carrying him through the tumultuous waters of adulthood, grief, and familial trauma.” On “Dissociation Blues,” there is a sense of urgency; honest lyrics are paired with sonic flourishes. Following several years of heartbreak and rigorous self-examination, Real Love is Beat Radio at their best.
