Maryon King calls out the players on “Boys Will Be Boys”

Date:

Unbeknownst to her parents, pop singer and songwriter Maryon King switched her major from language studies to music shortly after starting university.  It was a risky move, but with her mature songwriting sensibilities and staggering vocal skills, we can understand why she made the change.  Maryon was made to share her talents with the world, which she has done in full force.  She released three singles last year, worked on tracks with Afrojack and Tiesto, and opened for artists like Sigala and BEKA on sold out tours.  Preparing to roll out her debut EP, with a release date coming soon, Maryon gives us its first single, “Boys Will Be Boys.”

An anthem that is equal parts empowering and devious, “Boys Will Be Boys” touches on the unreliable nature of modern relationships.  Over an irresistible dance groove and a sleek production, Maryon tells off all those manipulative boys who choose to play games.  She sings with soulful vocals, “Come and go when it’s convenient / Disregard for what I’m feeling” and “You buy me flowers when you fuck up / Leave me on read when we need to talk.”  In the end, she figures, “Boys will be boys, will be boys, will be poison / Turn you to toys and play with your emotions.”  You can check it out below.

About the single, Maryon shares,

“It’s about the fickle nature of modern relationships, or ‘situationships,’ where the person you thought cared about you only wants you for your body.”

You can listen to “Boys Will Be Boys” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
