Crystal Tides smash their hometown show ahead of national radio play this weekend

Date:

Portsmouth-based Crystal Tides have just been signed by Run On Records and Modern Sky, and have their first national radio play in the UK this weekend. After their own 13-date UK tour last year, their latest single release show sold out immediately via mailing list only, and we were there to catch the action.

Crystal Tides played a superb hometown show at the Wedgewood Rooms venue this weekend. From the very first song the crowd were dancing and the vibe just built from there on in. This was a release show for their latest single “Honey”, which they announced to the crowd will get its first national airplay on BBC Radio 1 this weekend. Frontman Billy said “We have been working non stop over these past few years and airplay on Radio 1 has always been a dream of ours, and tomorrow that dream comes true!”.

The band played a 15-song set, new and old, ending with their latest release, already loved by the sold out crowd, everyone dancing and singing along. Sometimes the greatest shows are in small venues, this was one of those nights.

Crystal Tides have an EP out imminently, and we managed to have a sneak preview, it’s definitely one to watch out for.

Support came from superb local talent Tom Bryan, who said “I could genuinely f*uck this up at any moment”, and then proceeded to create the most perfect looped guitar-drum trance music. Definitely worth checking out his music and shows.
