Anna Shoemaker announces debut album ‘Everything Is Fine (I’m Only On Fire),’ releases title track

Date:

The past couple of years might have been the strongest representation of the “This Is Fine” meme, which became popular a few years ago.  For those not in the know, the meme features a cartoon dog calmly sitting at a table that is surrounded by flames.  Even though disaster is imminent, the dog claims, “This is fine,” and continues to hang out.  The meme never fails to speak to the times, so it makes sense that indie pop artist Anna Shoemaker would make a connection to it on her new single “Everything is Fine.”

An alt-rock track with a self-deprecating attitude, “Everything is Fine” is another Anna Shoemaker classic.  Over gritty guitar and lively percussion, Anna embodies the pessimistic optimist who is trying to make peace with the chaos around her.  In the accompanying video for the track, we see her wreaking havoc in her room and hanging out of a car window as she declares, “Everything is fine / I’m only on fire / Everything is fine / I’m only a liar.”  You can check it out below.

Along with the single, Anna has revealed more details about her upcoming debut album Everything Is Fine (I’m Only On Fire).  The album is set to be released on March 2, 2022, and will contain previous singles “Sick!,” “It’s Depression,” and “Change My Mind.”  When we interviewed Anna about the album last year, she shared,

“The songs on my album were all written over the past two years.  I don’t think it’s necessarily a quarantine project, but I definitely think the pandemic shaped parts of my process, and things never really went back to how they were.  It’s been interesting for me to sort of piece together these pre-quarantine, quarantine, and post-quarantine moments and feelings into one body of work.”

You can listen to “Everything is Fine” on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
