Rain City Drive (fka Slaves) release first song with new band name, “Cutting It Close”

Date:

Rain City Drive, formerly known as Slaves, surely know how to end 2021 off with a bang! With a recent change in names, the band has officially released their first song under the name Rain City Drive, “Cutting It Close,” and have signed with Thriller Records.

The band originally formed in 2014 and was led by vocalist Jonny Craig. After Craig was removed from the band, The Voice runner-up Matt McAndrew stepped in January 2019. A little more than a year after they released their debut record with McAndrew, To Better Days, the band has rebranded themselves as a band you do not want to sleep on and showed the beginning of what was to come.

“Cutting It Close” shows that McAndrew isn’t here to mess around and he’s ready to make a name for himself and his band mates. The edgy track is a blend of what the band has been all along and what path the band is heading down – a melodic, alternative rock band with riffs for days and powerful melodies with a hooks you can’t turn off.

“This guys got it all… that’s the guy that wins this show right here,” boasted Levine after McAndrew’s performance of “Take Me To Church” by Hozier. Although McAndrew did not take home the Universal Music record deal that the Voice has to offer to it’s winners, he won something even better. A support system who can’t wait to see where he goes.

We can’t wait to see where this new chapter of Rain City Drive takes the band, but we are happy to be apart of it.
