Maddy Hatchett finds a silver lining with new single “Lately”

Date:

Austin, TX singer-songwriter and guitarist Maddy Hatchett embraces the silver linings of Covid-era life with her latest single, “Lately,” which is out now on streaming platforms.

Without directly giving away the context of quarantine, the song muses over the pains of Covid-era life, acknowledging the ongoing isolation that the pandemic has put society through. At first, the song appears almost melancholy – clever lyrics highlight those golden moments that emerge from the darkness – time with family, introspection, and realizing what you want versus what you need.

It is this last theme of acknowledging what you need that drives “Lately” home. While Hatchett’s lyricism encapsulates living through the pandemic, it also can be placed as a beacon of hope across hard times in general.
