Last month, singer-songwriter UPSAHL gave us a taste of her upcoming debut album with the riveting track “Melatonin“, and now we have another anthem to blast from her as we wind down the summer.
“Time of My Life” is a total earworm like the rest of UPSAHL’s growing discography. One hears traces of Dua Lipa’s disco revival (which makes sense due to UPSAHL co-writing of “Good in Bed”) and the harmonic flourishes akin to Billie Eilish’s recent work, all paired with an extremely infectious vocal melody. It’s yet another impressive single from the increasingly-popular 22 year old, and her debut record is probably going to be inescapable this fall. UPSAHL shared the following about “Time of My Life”—
“I wrote “Time of my Life” about being the happiest I’ve ever been, while simultaneously being the saddest I’ve ever been. I’m at a place in my life where I feel like the highs are really really high, but on the flip side, it makes the impact of the lows even lower. The day we wrote this song, I had the line: “How come all the worst days are in the time of my life?” dancing around in my head… So we ended up making that the chorus and building the rest of the song around it.”
