Carly Rae Jepsen Drops a New Bop for Valentine’s Day

Date:

With a week left until Valentine’s Day, emotions are running high.  Pink and red sweaters are abound, different channels are running marathons of our favorite rom-coms, and there are endless supplies of chocolates and balloons in all of the grocery stores.  Couples are stocking up on all of the heart-shaped décor, while hopeless romantics are hoping to find their “someone” just in time for the big day.  And then, there are those out there who have a good enough reason to see past all of the hype – people like Carly Rae Jepsen.

Carly is not shy when it comes to talking about her love life.  Her stories about all of the highs, the lows, and the awkward moments in between have been channeled catchy, vibrant pop songs that we can shamelessly dance to again and again.  Her new single, “Let’s Be Friends,” is another great pop bop, all about love gone wrong.

Before we all find “the one,” we all go on those dates that inevitably end with “staying friends.”  And do we ever stay friends?  No, no we do not.  Is it super uncomfortable?  Very.  Carly just about sums it all up in the first line of the chorus, “Let’s be friends / Then, never speak again.”  But, in the end, we are all better off just getting through these dates so that we can move on to the next one, which will hopefully be a good one!

So, for anyone out there who is feeling a bit bitter this Valentine’s Day, do not stress – you got this!  Check out the lyric video below and be sure to stream “Let’s Be Friends” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
