My Chemical Romance announced today via Youtube live stream that they will be returning to North American stages in an arena tour spanning the country. Fans have been hoping since the 2019 reunion show at The Shrine in Los Angeles and several international dates, including Download Fest and a three night run at Stadium MK, the latter two nights having been added after each date sold out in just minutes. The tour kicks off in Detroit, MI, and ends in Las Vegas, NV, with a performance at Riot Fest set for 9/12.
Fans eagerly tuned in to watch a short film titled “A summoning…” following a young man’s journey to reunite his favorite band, ritualistically trying to invoke their spirit. He sits listening to the band’s debut album, You Brought Me Your Bullets, I Brought You My Love, hoping to talk to the band through a ouija board. The video is a nod back to a fan-made image, making the ending all the more special.
After an eerie happening shakes his home, implied to be in New Jersey, the band’s home state, the protagonist, played by Marcos Garcia, is instructed to “RUN” by the ouija board. He hears a knock at the door, and three masked beings begin to break in. Garcia’s character begins to run through doors marked with MCR sigils, traveling through worlds that nod to the band’s different eras and imagery through the years. As he travels, outrunning the figures through each scene, he finds himself in the center of a circle of candles and cloaked figures, then wandering on stage in the empty Forum in Los Angeles. The ouija board before him signs, “YES”, to grant his request and the collective request of all of the My Chem fanbase, and the band’s tour announcements begin to roll on screen.
