What/who is BLACKPINK? The answer is simple: America’s current biggest girl group from South Korea. Consisting of four members, Rosé, Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie, BLACKPINK has accomplished quite a lot in the past few days from debuting at Coachella to making Billboard Chart History.
While conquering the U.S. charts higher than any other K-Pop girl group, BLACKPINK is truly becoming America’s newest sensation. Their latest EP “Kill This Love” landed at No. 24 on the Billboard 200, while it’s main single of the same name landed on the Hot 100 right at No. 41. With a unique sound that mixes both pop and hip-hop, there’s no surprise why the girls are killing the charts. With a huge fan base, BLINKS, and a discography known to be filled with bangers, it’s very clear that BLACKPINK will only keep making more strides in the US Charts.
Not only did the girls make their debut at Coachella this past weekend, but they made history by being the first K-pop girl to ever perform at Coachella. Despite being BLACKPINK’s debut, the girls held a high line up position, placing them higher over familiar names such as Kacey Musgraves and Jaden Smith. With a set filled with nonstop action, the girls demonstrated their true potential in front of thousands and thousands of people. While showcasing amazing vocals and rap versus, it was also impossible to not fall in love with their stage presence.
With no sign of stopping anytime soon, the girls are set to start their first US tour stop today at The Forum in Los Angeles, California. With several arena stops, BLACKPINK is truly changing the game, and setting the bar high for any future girl groups.
