Last night I got the chance to see The Maine live in Manchester. As the venue doors opened fans piled into The Manchester Academy’s Club Basement. The intimate venue was filled with the buzz of excited fans before the show had even begun.
First up were The Technicolors who have recently released their new album Metaphysical. Considering this is the bands first tour in the UK they received a great response from the crowd. Particular stand out songs from their set were Lilies For Lily and Neon Roses.
Next it was time for Night Riots, the band bounced onto stage opening with All For You. This band certainly know how to put on a show and drew the crowd in immediately with their dynamic on stage performance which included a mid set glow in the dark drum session during their song Oh My Heart. Night Riots will also be joining The Maine on their fall Modern Nostalgia Tour across the US.
Opening their show with the ethereal Lovely flowing into Black Butterflies & Deja Vu from their newest album Lovely, Little, Lonely The Maine had the crowd in the palm of their hand from the start. Performing a range of songs from their decade worth of hits the band treated fans to a perfect balance of old and new material. The show even included a proposal with two fans getting engaged on stage before Take Me Dancing. Closing out the show with fan favourite Another Night On Mars the basement crowd were left on a high (all be it a little sweaty).
